Are you a fan of hip-hop music? An aspiring rapper or amateur poet (looking for exposure)? Are you looking for a powerful way to tell your story (to thousands of people)? We want to hear from you!
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is inviting anyone 16 and over to write a rap for its first-ever Pittsburgh hip-hop showcase. All you have to do is send us a rap during the month of April that answers the question,“What is it like living in Pittsburgh?” Sound simple? It is.
Your rap could be chosen for a special showcase on post-gazette.com. And if it's really popping, we'll consider you for an exclusive series of full-length profiles in our newspaper and on our website.

Showcase Requirements
The rap must be submitted by email to pittsburghraps@post-gazette.com, along with your name, age and address.
The rap should be 12 to 20 lines long.
The rap should answer the question, “What is it like living in Pittsburgh?”
Submitters must be between the ages of 16 and 25 and live in Allegheny County.
The rap can be written or recorded (cell phone videos or recordings will be accepted). Special consideration will be given to recorded submissions.
The rap should be original and must follow Post-Gazette commenting standards, which means no vulgar language or profanity.
Submissions are welcomed from partners and teams as well as from individuals. One submission per individual. (If you’re submitting as part of a team, you cannot submit as an individual, too.)
Raps must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2017.
Submitters must agree to the Post-Gazette terms and conditions.
