CHICAGO — Gerrit Cole rumbled into Wrigley Field riding the longest winning streak of any major league starting pitcher, and seized control Wednesday night, leading the Pirates to an 8-1 victory against the Chicago Cubs.
Cole (4-0) struck out eight and scattered three hits over six innings, and a dormant Pirates offense came alive to salvage the finale of the three-game series.
Cole, now 4-0 at Wrigley Field, is 8-0 with a 2.40 ERA in his past 10 starts.
