Deer processing on opening day

At at T.A. Giger Deer Processing in Middlesex Twp., Butler Co., Nathan Zubik begins the process of cutting up the carcass of a deer shot on opening day of the 2016 rifle hunting season for the animals.

Tim Giger, owner of the processing station, last year handled 68 deer on opening day.

In past years, he’s processed as many as 125.

Giger once worked in the steel industry and began his deer processing business in 1999.
