If you’re looking to play golf when in town for the U.S. Open, here are some favorable suggestions (by region):

East
Three Lakes (412-793-7111) – Tilted fairways, elevated greens and good putting surfaces.
Madison Club (724-446-4000) – Good price, good holes, good quality.
Grandview (412-351-5390) — Narrow and quirky, but good conditions and convenient to Downtown.

North
Cranberry Highlands (724-776-7372) – A Bill Love design that is one of the best munis you’ll find anywhere. Great value.
Birdsfoot (724-295-3656) – Located closest to Oakmont, an Ault & Clark design that won’t disappoint.
Pittsburgh National (724-265-4800) – Great layout, challenging par-3s and a covered bridge to boot.

South
Hickory Heights (412-257-0300) – Michael Hurdzan-designed layout that puts a premium on target golf.
Lindenwood (724-745-9889) – Popular public facility with 27 holes that are solid, not spectacular.
Cedarbrook (724-929-8300) – Two 18-hole courses for your choosing and a flat rate of $25 on weekdays. Great conditions.

West
Olde Stonewall (724-752-4653) – Steep greens fee, but well worth the money. Best daily-fee facility in Western Pennsylvania.
Quicksilver (724-796-1594) – Long and tough, former home to Champions Tour and Web.com Tour events in the 1990s.
Club at Shadow Lakes (724-375-5511) – It has the look and feel of a private club, mainly because it was. Daily times now available.
