It was the social event to be #SEEN in 2017 when lovebirds Mary McKinney, 38, and Mark Flaherty, 56, both attorneys, tied the knot in a lavish three-day extravaganza. On Friday night, an intimate romantic escapade awaited guests who watched as the happy couple tied the knot at the Episcopal Calvary Church in Shadyside. Dinner, catered by the Duquesne Club, followed as their backyard was transformed into a dreamy wonderland expertly designed by TK Event Studio. On Saturday, out-of-town guests and friends enjoyed casual events, while Sunday topped it all off with an over-the-top party at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto on Mount Washington for 300 partygoers. \u201cIt was a large party, no doubt! We are so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives and really wanted to celebrate with them. We really valued the opportunity to spend quiet time with our families and also to celebrate with all of the people we love,\u201d said Mary McKinney Flaherty.<\/p>\n

#All the Party Details:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Dress:<\/strong> The Sunday tea-length silk dress was a custom design by Diana Misetic of Little Black Dress. The fascinator was by Philip Treacy and shoes by Vetements for Manolo Blahnik. The groom\u2019s Sunday morning suit was from Huntsman London.<\/p>\n

Flowers:<\/strong> Hepatica.<\/p>\n

Music:<\/strong> Multiple levels in the restaurant call for multiple musicians! The upstairs dance floor kept the place hopping with music by House of Soul, who surprised the couple by performing Barry White for their first dance. The lounge set a sultry, laid-back vibe with the Jeff and Tania Grubbs Quintet.<\/p>\n

The Inspiration:<\/strong> \u201cWe wanted the wedding to be a celebration of all the people we are blessed to have in our lives, of the city we love and our histories and heritages. So, in addition to Monterey Bay\u2019s wonderful seafood, we served pierogies, stuffed cabbage and haluski,\u201d said Ms. McKinney Flaherty. (And don\u2019t forget the Pittsburgh cookie table!)<\/p>\n

The Ring:<\/strong> Mary\u2019s engagement ring is from Kozloff & Meaders on Ellsworth Avenue. It\u2019s a step cut inspired by the Art Deco style of the 1930s. Mary also gave Mark a vintage watch from Kozloff & Meaders as a wedding gift.<\/p>\n

Honeymoon:<\/strong> After the wedding, the newlyweds headed to China and visited Beijing, Chengdu and Hong Kong. Hiking to the Golden Temple atop Mount Emei was on their bucket list, as was eating Sichuanese cuisine. Check, check!<\/p>\n

Plans for the future?<\/strong> \u201cWe love Pittsburgh and love the opportunities we have to be involved here,\u201d said Mr. Flaherty. Both he and his new wife serve in various ways around the community, including the Allegheny County Bar Association (the Women in the Law Division Pathways to the Bench Committee, the Collaborative Law Committee), Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Carnegie Museum of Art, Contemporary Craft, Quantum Theatre, Chatham Baroque, Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, 412 Food Rescue and Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
