In my backyard

State regulations require a 500 foot setback, or buffer, between drilling and fracking operations and homes, buildings or other protected features. Some Pennsylvania towns have expanded those setbacks, with Cecil Township proposing a 2,500-foot buffer. Use this map to calculate what those distances look like from any location.

Setback examples:
500 feet: Statewide requirement
750 feet: Murrysville, West Deer, New Sewickley
1,000 feet: Collier
2,500 feet: Proposed Cecil ordinance
