While you can list the virtues of a ham and cheese sandwich, you\u2019d much rather discuss the outcome of a \u201c10\u201d when ordering pad Thai. You might feel that your sense of adventure is dead this year, but it\u2019s just resting.<\/p>\n

Eat this:<\/strong> You probably already have saffron and pomegranate molasses and so try them in a lassi and on a roasted chicken, respectively.<\/p>\n

Not this:<\/strong> Boring white bread and steamed broccoli were never your thing. Why start now?<\/p>\n

Same-old, same-old is never a chapter in a Sag\u2019s life. Instead, it\u2019s always about new adventures. This Middle Eastern dip, with the tangy pomegranate molasses, will take you on your next palate exploration.<\/p>\n

\n

4\u00bd tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
\n\u00bd cup unseasoned dried breadcrumbs
\n2 medium garlic cloves, minced
\n\u00be teaspoon ground cumin
\n\u00bd teaspoon paprika
\n\u00bc teaspoon cayenne pepper
\n\u00be cup toasted walnuts, divided
\n1 cup drained jarred roasted red peppers, patted dry
\n1 tablespoon pomegranate molasses
\n\u00bd teaspoon fresh lemon juice
\nSea salt and freshly ground pepper<\/p>\n

Stir together 1\u00bd tablespoons oil with breadcrumbs in skillet. Fry crumbs over medium-high heat until golden brown.<\/p>\n

Turn off heat; add garlic, cumin, paprika, cayenne. Stir them into the crumbs, allowing them to cook in residual heat. Let cool.<\/p>\n

Transfer mixture to food processor along with \u00bd cup walnuts, and pulse until finely ground.<\/p>\n

Add red peppers, molasses, lemon juice and \u00be teaspoon salt and \u00bc teaspoon pepper.<\/p>\n

Process to a thick puree. Add remaining oil and process until mixture is smooth.<\/p>\n

Let dip stand for 1 hour to let flavors meld. Coarsely chop remaining nuts and sprinkle over top.<\/p>\n

Serve with multigrain crackers or pita chips.<\/p>\n

Makes 1\u00bd cups.<\/p>\n
