On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man then suspected of passing a counterfeit $20 bill, died in Minneapolis after Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, pressed his knee to Mr. Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes. Recorded via cellphone camera by a young onlooker, the footage of Mr. Floyd’s death sparked a widespread movement pushing for racial justice and demanding changes in policing. We look back on the historic year since his death.<\/p>\n
