The United States flag flies at half-mast per presidential order in honor of those slayed in Uvalde, Texas’s Robb School, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil Township, Washington County. after sunset Friday, May 27, 2022. At this final resting place for honorably discharged military veterans and some of their family, the flag will be raised at the end of the afternoon Saturday when the presidential order expires. Then it will be lowered to half-mast again Monday morning for Memorial Day. “VA operates 155 national cemeteries and 34 soldiers’ lots and monument sites in 42 states and Puerto Rico,” according to the National Cemetery Administration website. There will be a ceremony Monday at 11 a.m. open to the public but due to construction limited parking space is available and once it is full vehicles will be turned away.
