In the words of Pittsburgh Press reporter David Nilsson: “An enthusiastic crowd of some 17,000 cheered the Republican candidate last night while colored balloons cascaded from the domed roof and ‘Sock it to ‘em, Dick’ signs bobbed up and down.”
