A 2 a.m. performance of Don Brockett\u2019s \u201cBig, Bad Burlesque\u201d was part of the New Year\u2019s Eve celebration at the Marriott in Green Tree.<\/p>\n

Don Brockett was the \u201cpremier parodist of Pittsburgh\u201d and its \u201cemperor of entertainment.\u201d\u00a0That\u2019s how Chris Rawson, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette\u2019s \u00a0senior drama critic, described him in in an obituary published in 1995.<\/p>\n

A barrel chested, multi-talented entertainer with a raspy voice, Mr. Brockett was a writer, composer, director and producer of musicals and satirical cabaret shows. Over a period of 30 years, he employed more than 1,000 entertainers, many of whom went on to careers on \u00a0Broadway or in films. Brockett alumni include Michael Keaton and Rob Marshall.<\/p>\n

This picture features entertainers from \u201cBig, Bad Burlesque,\u201d a cabaret hit Mr. Brockett ran off and on for 25 years.\u00a0This particular cast appeared at the Marriott in Green Tree during a 2 a.m. performance for \u00a0New Year\u2019s revelers who stayed up late after greeting the dawn of 1981.<\/p>\n
