Aries

March 21-April 19

AriesTraits: Daring, honest, confident, impatient, moody and short-tempered.

Aries is the source of fire, so you like heat and speed. Uranus is in your sign, and its energy is powerful and erratic. So you’ll be on the edge and anxious. Also, for the past several years, you have found your finger poked into a high-voltage electric socket, so this year, you might want to tone it down a smidge. Add “plain” to your daily mix of flavors, especially in May and November. And don’t worry, you’ll still be an original. Focus on burning calories through motion.

Eat this: Simple foods that are soothing, such as soups and teas, and vegetables such as spinach that help regulate hormones in the nervous system.

Not this: Avoid very spicy foods and switch to decaf drinks.

Roast Chicken Soup

PG tested

As you need to tone things down a bit this year, this simple soup could be the calming factor. It is balanced, thick and light with the perfect ratio of meat versus veggies.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium leek, thinly sliced
1 medium red-skinned potato, peeled and cubed
2 medium carrots, cut into small pieces
2 teaspoons finely chopped rosemary leaves
34 ounces water
7 ounces roast or rotisserie chicken, shredded
2½ ounces frozen peas, defrosted
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Heat oil over medium heat in a medium pot, and saute leek, potato, carrots and rosemary, covered, for 15 minutes.

Add water, bring to boil, then simmer for 10 minutes. Puree half the soup with an immersion blender.

Add chicken. Stir in peas and season with salt and pepper. Simmer until warmed through and peas are cooked.

Serves 2 to 4.
