Dusk falls as Anthony Brown, 8, walks home from the farm pond, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, on his family farm in Saltlick and Bullskin. In the beginning of December as the strain from his mother’s cancer mounted, Anthony told her that life is mostly bad. “I told him, ‘I never want to hear that again,’” said Anthony’s mother, Mary Beth Brown. “They’re watching how I’m reacting...We tell them, ‘God has a reason for everything. Sometimes you don’t see it for years.’”
