I wanted to pass along a few pictures of the 8-point buck I shot in North Fayette on Oct. 5 at 6:15 p.m. Deer still move when it’s warm outside, especially early in the year. This is my third such buck taken in recent years during the first two weeks of archery in warmer weather periods. Twenty yard shot and ran only 40 yards. Taken with a Bowtech Destroyer 350 with a QAD Exodus broadhead. (Photo provided by Robbie Petrick)
Haven Rusak of West View was 7 years old on Sept. 15 when she dropped this 6-point, her first antlered deer, with her crossbow in McCandless. Her father Jim Rusak said Haven loves looking at pictures of successful hunters and anglers in the paper. Already a successful outdoorswoman, she’s harvested three does (her first when she was 5) and a spring longbeard before taking this buck. (Photo Jim Rusak)
