Words like “genocide” and “murder” are seen on the vandalized statue base of Christopher Columbus, Friday, June 12, 2020, in Schenley Park in Oakland. In October later in the year, Mayor Bill Peduto officially recommended the statue be removed after Pittsburgh’s Art Commission unanimously recommended that the statue be taken out of the park.
