By Thousands of fans are expected to attend the 13th Annual Panama Jazz Festival in Panama City Panama. Organized by the Danilo Perez Foundation, the festival spotlights national and international artists, as well as provide clinics and workshops for promising young musicians.
Last night, pianist Randy Weston was honored before his performance. Mr.Weston performed in Pittsburgh in 2015 at the New Hazlett Theater as part of the Kente Arts Alliance’s “Africa Calling” series.
Among tonight’s headliners will be Geri Allen and the MCA Power Trio. Allen is the director of jazz studies at the University of Pittsburgh.
