Members of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Firefighters Edward Podgorski, Benjamin Sovyak, Lt. James F. OToole and Nathan Oliver received the Red Cross Firefighter Heroes Award. They responded to a house fire on New Year’s day in Wilkinsburg and rescued a 86-year-old woman on the second floor. After wards they encountered a flashover as flames engulfed the first and second floors and jumped from the second story.
