David Shifren (right) played a game with Bill Johson (left) in Market Square on Tuesday May 31, 2022. Shifren created the chess program five years ago in Hazelwood and then extended the program out to Sharaden, Mattsville, Brookline, and Beachview. The program is geared towards interacting with kids to build relationships with both the kids, the surrounding neighborhoods, and the police officers that play with them.
