Rebecca Droke

Rebecca Droke is a staff photographer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She graduated from Ohio University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication. After graduation, she worked at The Durango Herald in southwest Colo., before joining the Post-Gazette in 2006. Her assignments have taken her across Pennsylvania on the Obama bus in 2008, to the New Jersey shore after Hurricane Sandy and Newtown, Conn., to cover the one year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings. The Decline of Sheltered Workshops

In 2014 the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services changed the rules for “sheltered workshops” — safe workplaces for individuals with disabilities to do simple tasks, sometimes for far below minimum wage — to have more community integration by 2019.
