SHOW TRANSCRIPT

Hi, I’m Matt Moret, and I’m a web associate at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette! I’m also the host of Field Study, the podcast you’re listening to right now.

Field Study is a show focused on how the sports world intersects with science. Don’t worry, though, you don’t need to be a stat fanatic or hold two college degrees to listen along.

Maybe you’re just like me: Someone with nerdy inclinations who kind of understands how football works...but who is still baffled by the difference between a nickel and dime package.

That’s fine. We’re all in this together.

Our team wants to make both science and sports approachable, so that you, or even your kids, can learn more about what happens before the game clock starts running, as well as what invisible forces at play once it has.

Ever wonder why some of your favorite east coast teams consistently struggle when they play out west? We’ve got you covered.

Ever ask yourself whether artificial intelligence could reshape professional football? Or even just pondered what artificial intelligence is? Well, you’re going to find out.

It’s also important to us that Field Study feature a variety of voices from across our newsroom.

That’s why you’ll hear from Courtney Linder, our lead tech reporter, as well as Stephen Nesbitt, an enterprise reporter who spent years as a Pirates beat writer. Lacretia Wimbley and Chris Huffaker will represent the Post-Gazette’s news desk, and you’ll hear a bit from me along the way. Each of us brings a different perspective to Field Study, which we hope will connect with you.

Field Study launches in April, so let’s apply some kinetic energy and get that subscription ball rolling.
