Remembering Officer Calvin Hall

Family, friends and law enforcement gather to lay Pittsburgh police Officer Calvin Hall to rest Tuesday, July 23, 2019, during a funeral at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Oakland and burial at Homewood Cemetery in Point Breeze. Hall was off-duty when he was shot in the back during an argument in Homewood on Sunday, July 14. He died three days later at UPMC Presbyterian. Officer Hall, “one of the good ones,” was known for his “upbeat personality.”

“He was very energetic, very funny, always smiled,” said Leonard Hall, uncle to Officer Hall, outside Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum during the viewing on Monday.

Hundreds of police officers held an end of watch ceremony Saturday night to honor Hall.

Police gathered along the route of the procession from UPMC Presbyterian, where Officer Hall died, to the medical examiner’s office on Wednesday.
