Matt Freed is a staff photographer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He graduated from Point Park College with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communications in 1994. He began his career in his hometown at the Punxsutawney Spirit while in college and started at the Post-Gazette in 1995. He's covered varied assignments from the death of Pope John Paul II to the local music scene. He currently enjoys working a sports beat including everything from high schools to the local professional teams.
