Morgan Glancy spreads her arms to demonstrate the signal she will give if her rappelling rig gets locked while making her way down the side of the 26-story Oliver Building, Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, Downtown. Glancy and three of her friends earned the opportunity to rappel by raising more than $5,000 for Our Clubhouse, an organization that provides emotional and social support for those affected by cancer. Glancy’s mother Esther Smoke wanted to take part in the rappelling event but died on July 6, after years of battling melanoma. But her mother was there in spirit, she believes. “I was talking to her all the way down,” Glancy said. “‘C’mon mom, we’re going to do this!'” (Steve Mellon/Post-Gazette)
