It’s official. Democrat Ed Gainey has been elected the 57th mayor of Pittsburgh. Politicos can now

stop their ritual hedging of the bets that gave Republican Tony Moreno hope he could somehow

tap into a previously unseen groundswell of “Gainey-averse” Democrats to swing the election

in his direction. There was no anti-Gainey groundswell.
